There are currently four anatomy workshops that are presented by Mr Paul Pretorius from the University of Stellenbosch and Mrs Michelle van Tonder.

All workshops are held at the Tygerberg Campus of the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town. Please follow the links below for a detailed explanation of what each course is about.

The first workshop, The Inside Story, is an introductory workshop that focusses on terminology, as well as covering some osteology.

The second workshop, The Secret of the Power System I, focusses on the muscles in the upper body.

The third workshop, The Secret of the Power System II, focusses on the muscles in the lower body.

The fourth workshop focusses on Neuroanatomy.

The fifth workshop, Neuroanatomy II, focusses on the skull & vertebra, ventricular system, meninges system and blood vessels.

These workshops are open to therapists, practitioners or anyone interested in gaining better understanding of the human body. Although the workshops are open to grade 11 and 12 learners we require that they are accompanied by a responsible adult. This could be a teacher, parent or guardian. A parent or teacher can take responsibility for a small group of learners as long as all the required documentation is completed. The same fees applies for the responsible adult as for other participants. Contact us for group rates if your group is larger than 10 participants.

Please register (registration for all events are now closed (17/08/2022)) for these events ASAP if you are interested.

Registration fee: First time attendance of any workshop (ie Workshop 1 or 2) in the series (Workshops 1-8) is R1000. Repeat attendance of the same workshop (ie Workshop 1 or 2) in the series is R900.

Upcoming on 20 August 2022: Anatomy visit for Biology/life science educators and grade 10-12 students. – Registration is now closed (17/08/2022)drop us an email if you wish to be notified of a future event.

Great opportunity for all Biology teachers and people interested in the human body. We are offering the unique experience to tour the world’s best clinical anatomy department in the world.
You could give your input in help creating anatomy workshops for biology learners as revision, as enrichment or looking into new careers in this field after school. Since we have opened up our Anatomy workshops to grade 11-12 students we have had such a great response and are therefore planning on possibly opening it up to grade 10-12 students and tailor making the workshops to align with the School curriculum. This is where we invite you to come and give your input.

Cost: R100 per person/student. Click here to register or email us on info@holisticneurohealth.co.za if you have specific questions.

What are attendees saying about the workshops?
Nicola, Student: The course was professionally run- the presenters, Paul and Michelle, really made an effort to assist all the participants and ensured there was a good understanding in both theory and practice. They created a humorous atmosphere that aided in making the learning process more enjoyable. Paul made the extra effort to show us around the campus- I really appreciated it. I met some interesting and like- minded people. It was a great experience overall!

Lisa, Grade 11 student: I as a 11th grader thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I think that any person interested in biology will find the workshop interesting and informative. They are really thorough in their explanations and will answer any question thrown at them. In addition, they do most of it practically making it a lot easier to visualize and understand everything, this intern will help me grasp and understand the topics I learn in my biology class. Accommodation is no problem for them, for instance if you don’t manage to find a responsible adult they are more then willing to provide you with one. There is also no moment in this experience that did not have someone cracking a joke. Everyone involved is very kind and understanding. There is no doubt that I will attend the next workshop.

Joeli, Grade 11 student: Interesting. very informative.

Ronit, Student: A great workshop that bestowed great knowledge upon me and cemented my previous knowledge even further

Irma, Therapist: I love how you guys formulated and customise the anatomy world to such a language and basic form; so that non-medical people can understand! What was even more awesome, was to see so many gr11 & gr12 pupils attending these workshops! To learn in an environment where your text book becomes alive with real anatomy is just incredible !! Thank you!

Isabella, Grade 12 Student: It was an amazing experience that I really enjoyed. It was very interesting and informative, definitely the workshop to do for anyone wanting to study in the medical field.

Anine: Therapist: Enjoyed the exposure of being able to see the real muscles and all the variations. Very insightful and worth attending.

One of our anonymous feedback questions for Students: Would you encourage others in your field / school to attend this workshop? Please explain why or why not.

Grade 12 student: Yes I would. It gave me confirmation of what I want to do after school.

Grade 12 student: Definitely, anyone who wants to study in the medical field should do these workshops as they are very informative and exciting giving you a good insight into what is to come.

First-year student who started attending workshops in grade 11:  Yes, in my position as a first-year student in university, courses like these reiterate the content I am learning during my course and helped me understand what university life would be like in terms of workload and study material so I would definitely encourage others, especially high school students to attend workshops like these
